Hours after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that a peace agreement had been reached with Iran, Israel launched fresh airstrikes on Lebanon, signaling that its military operations against hostile groups would continue.

According to Israeli authorities, the strikes targeted the Jezzine region of southern Lebanon after receiving intelligence that members of Hezbollah were operating in the area. Several buildings were reportedly hit during the operation. Israeli media reported that key Hezbollah figures were killed in the strikes, while four Israeli soldiers also lost their lives.

The renewed attacks came shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated that Israel would continue to pursue its enemies wherever they are located.

While Trump had stated that Israel supported the ceasefire agreement and that hostilities with Lebanon would cease, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz made remarks indicating that military operations would continue. Responding to questions about Trump’s statements, Katz reportedly said that Israel would determine its own course of action and would not be dictated to by others.

Katz also accused militant groups of carrying out attacks against Israeli civilians and stated that Israel would continue to act against those responsible. Some of his comments drew widespread attention due to their strong language.

Asked about the Israeli strikes, Trump said that he had spoken with Netanyahu and urged him not to carry out further attacks on Lebanon.

The latest developments have raised questions about the durability of the reported ceasefire and the prospects for stability in the region.

This version preserves the substance of the original report while attributing claims and avoiding inflammatory language. Casualty figures and statements by officials should be independently verified through multiple sources.
