Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay’s much-awaited final film, Jana Nayagan, is finally expected to hit theatres after overcoming delays in the certification process. The film, which was reportedly held up by the Censor Board following Vijay’s decision to enter active politics, is now likely to be released worldwide on July 24.
Directed by H. Vinoth, the film features Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, and Mamitha Baiju in key roles, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Considered Vijay’s final film before focusing entirely on politics, Jana Nayagan carries significant importance for both the actor and his fans.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had initially raised several objections after reviewing the film. The board reportedly asked the makers to remove or modify scenes featuring references to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, visuals related to Vijay’s political party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), depictions involving the Indian national flag, certain offensive dialogues, and a violent sequence involving a child.
Even after the suggested edits were made, the CBFC is said to have sought further changes, expressing concerns over scenes that could potentially create divisions based on caste or religion. The review process was delayed as the board conducted a more detailed examination.
With the certification process now nearing completion, Jana Nayagan is expected to receive clearance soon, paving the way for its theatrical release. The film is widely anticipated as Vijay’s farewell to cinema before dedicating himself full-time to his political career.
