Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s recent visit to Indonesia grabbed attention not only for strengthening bilateral ties but also for a light-hearted exchange with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, which has since gone viral on social media.

During a joint event, President Prabowo praised Modi’s leadership and revealed that he had closely followed several of India’s governance initiatives over the years. He said Indonesia had drawn inspiration from many Indian welfare schemes and development programs, especially in tackling challenges such as managing a large population and responding to natural disasters. In a humorous remark, Prabowo added that he was happy there was “no copyright” on Modi’s ideas.

Responding with a smile, Prime Minister Modi said that “there is no copyright between friends,” drawing laughter and applause from the audience. He emphasized that India is always willing to share its successful governance practices with friendly nations.

Modi also highlighted the centuries-old cultural relationship between India and Indonesia, tracing their historical ties back to the era of the Ramayana. He said stronger cooperation between the two countries would contribute to peace, stability, and prosperity across the Indo-Pacific region.

The Prime Minister further announced India’s willingness to support Indonesia in modernizing its electoral system, including cooperation in the development of electronic voting technologies and other digital governance initiatives.

The friendly exchange between the two leaders has been widely shared online, with many praising the warmth and camaraderie displayed during the meeting.
