Iran is reportedly preparing to hold funeral ceremonies for former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who, according to Iranian and U.S. statements cited in the article, died during recent hostilities between the United States and Iran. The ceremonies are scheduled to be held from July 5 to July 9.
According to diplomatic sources, invitations have reportedly been extended by the Iranian government and President Masoud Pezeshkian to several leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to attend the final rites. However, no official statement has been issued by India regarding the invitation.
Diplomatic circles are closely watching whether Modi will attend the burial ceremony scheduled for July 9 and which other world leaders may receive invitations. Details regarding the list of attendees have not yet been made public.
According to the reports, U.S. forces launched strikes on Tehran after receiving intelligence allegedly provided by Mossad, resulting in the deaths of Ali Khamenei and several senior military officials. Media reports also stated that members of Khamenei’s family were among the casualties, while his son Mojtaba Khamenei was reported to have been injured.
Following Khamenei’s death, Iran reportedly announced Mojtaba Khamenei as his successor. Meanwhile, the United States has reportedly warned that it would continue to act against future Iranian leaders if its conditions were not met.
